陈杰，教授，博士生导师，系统辨识与网络化控制领域顶尖学者，长江讲座教授，基金委海外杰青，IEEE Fellow、IFAC Fellow、AAAS Fellow；IEEE Trans. AC、Automatica等多个国际顶尖期刊编辑；曾任IEEE Control Systems Society Board of Governor委员、IEEE Fellow评选委员会委员；出版专著2部，论文SCI引用4000多次。
Jie Chen teaches in the field of systems and control, and signal processing. He was born in Yichun, Jiangxi Province, The People's Republic of China on January 14, 1963. He received the B.S. degree in aerospace engineering from Northwestern Polytechnic University, Xian, China in 1982, the M.S.E. degree in electrical engineering, the M.A. degree in mathematics, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, all from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1985, 1987, and 1990, respectively.
An elected Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of AAAS, Fellow of IFAC, and a Yangtze Scholar/Chair Professor of China, Dr. Chen was a recipient of 1996 US National Science Foundation CAREER Award, 2004 SICE International Award, and 2006 Natural Science Foundation of China Outstanding Overseas Young Scholar Award. He was on a number of journal editorial boards, serving as an Associate Editor and a Guest Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, a Guest Editor for IEEE Control Systems Magazine, an Associate Editor for Automatica, Journal of Control Theory and Applications, and the founding Editor-in-Chief for Journal of Control Science and Engineering. He is currently an Associate Editor for SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, and for All about Systems and Control.
He was an IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS) Distinguished Lecturer, and served in different capacities for IEEE CSS, on the IEEE CSS Board of Governors, as an IEEE CSS Chapter Activities Chair, and a member on the IEEE CSS Fellow Evaluation Committee. Currently, he serves on the IFAC Publication Committee and the IFAC Fellow Search Committee.
His main research interests are in the areas of networked control and information theory, multi- agent systems, time-delay systems, linear multivariable systems theory, system identification, robust control, and in broad applications of control theory and techniques. He is the author of several books, among which are Control- Oriented System Identification: An H- infinity Approach (with G. Gu, Wiley- Interscience, 2000), Stability of Time- Delay Systems (with K. Gu and V.L. Kharitonov, Birkhauser, 2003), Towards Integrating Control and Information Theories: From Information- Theoretic Measures to Control Performance Limitations (with Song Fang and Hideaki Ishii, Springer, 2016) and Limits of Stability and Stabilization of Time-Delay Systems: A Small-Gain Approach (with Jing Zhu, Tian Qi and Dan Ma, Springer, 2018).
Dr. Chen currently holds the appointment of Chair Professor of Electronic Engineering at City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China. Prior to joining City University, he was with School of Aerospace Engineering and School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia from 1990 to 1993. He joined University of California, Riverside, California as an Assistant Professor in 1994, where he became an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering in 1997, and a Professor in 1999. He served as the Professor and Chair of Electrical Engineering from 2001 to 2006. He has also held guest positions and visiting appointments with Northwestern Polytechnic University, Xian, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, Harbin Institute of Technology- Shenzhen Graduate School, Shenzhen, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong, China; Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan; and The University of Newcastle, Callaghan, The University of Western Sydney, Penrith, Australia. Concurrently, he also holds the title of Honorary Professor with Northeastern University, Shenyang, China.
